Pink Ribbon Walk 2013 @ Marina Bay Sand Promenade

My first outdoor trooping which I'll never forget!

It was a whole lotta difference from indoor events. The sweat, the warmth, the heat, the uneven ground. So many elements of an outdoor troop that makes me all the more admire the other guys who have been doing this for YEARS!

Supporting the Breast Cancer Foundation.

Starting with a 3.8km walk.

I made a couple of ribbons to carry around and smaller ribbons to wear on our armors.

Gives our looks a very sentimental, soft touch.

Halfway through the walk, we bumped into Melody Chen from Kiss92 radio station.

But the real draw there is PINK SPIDERMAN!!!!

These little boys were LITERALLY our FANBOYS!

Apparently fans of Star Wars but also they had these little pink fans which they used to fan us with.

Super duper sweet.

At the halfway mark they even helped us take refreshments from the drink stand so that we need not squeeze with the rest of the crowd.

Oh yeah ... after 2 hours of walking and stopping to pose for photos, we have at last arrived at the finish line!

I've order new darts and a whole new armor set. All my previous darts broke. The armor I have currently is a little wrongly sized. Also needing the correctly done shoes plates and back plate to complete the costume.

Ooh but today preparing to go for the Pink Ribbon Walk 2013 at Marina Promenade this Saturday, 28th September 2013. Re-sewed the loose velcro pieces on the suits and stuck new velcro pieces for the armor.

Also happily UniQlo is selling their Winter lines again and I managed to get the turtle neck cotton tee that I needed to replace my current lycra one with. Bought a balaclava too for the meanwhile with my current suit & top that doesn't seem to cover my neck well enough.

Anyway if anyone's reading this, be sure to come down for the Pink Ribbon Walk event this Saturday. It's free and we will be at a photobooth where contributions will be to the Breast Cancer Foundation. I might be taking part in the 3.8km walk too.

It's finished ... almost

I've only left the boot plates which I've to order and can only arrive next month.
Need to get my paypal account linked to my credit cards ... taking longer than expected.

I lost some photos which I took of the weathering of the helmet and armour. Not to mention I 3D-printed my darts and other greebles on my bracers. But all my darts broke during my trooping as they were too fragile. Going to order steel darts of the Boba Fett type.

I also thank the Singapore Garrison who welcomed me with open arms ever since beginning of 2013. First "mission" as a minder in Chingay 2013 got me hooked and I never stopped since.

After that was minding for the special Star Wars exhibition at the Singapore Philatelic Museum for both May the Fourth and Father's Day. Then helping with phototaking in Legoland Malaysia. It has been a BIG BLAST!

Now below photos taken from the recent event. STGCC (Singapore Toys Games Comics Convention) 2013 at MBS (Marina Bay Sands). It was more exhilirating than I bargained for.

Favourite moments are when kids recognise my costume by NAME!!! Bo Katan! I love them. Meeting the new people was fantastic too.

It's getting there ...

Honestly most of the hard work is done by my two friends who guide and help me along the way.

Trying to get this done by this Friday in time for STGCC ... I hope.

Visor done. Cheap way too. Thanks to my friend's idea. Cheap visor clear and paste dark film wrap.

The knees. Doing a stretch band behind and adding a velcro in front to secure the position ... I got fat knees.

Side piece for the range finder done.

Gauntlets all sprayed up. Left the details.

Did up my own sewing of the velcro instead. Haphazard stitch work to just get it done fast and easy. Holding up well. Will machine sew AFTER the event to give it a better finish if needed. One boob down ... god knows how many more attachments armour pieces of velcro to sew.

Huge hiatus but I'm back

Been sitting on my ass I know and nagged to death by fellow Star Wars lovers. I know I've been lazy.

Been getting a lot of help from a couple of buddies and ... well ... progress so far.

I believe I can fly! Fitted up the harness with the back plate and the jetpack. Quite comfortable but I don't know about long term carrying yet. Still got to match up the holes to my top shirt to wear the harness on the inside and the two top straps to come out through the holes on the shirt which I need to cut.

BOOBIES!!! But is it a D or a C?

Found the boot! YEAH!!! A little pricey but it's worth it. It's being a bitch trying to pull off the super stuck logo.

Blaster all painted up but all the wood grain could be seen. Friend did a layer of putty which I tried my best to sand down. But I seem to lack the sanding ability. What I did for an hour my friend was able to do more in just 10 mins. :(

Progress :

Helmet - Wearing. Range finder to replace the stem with metal stem and paint.

Body Suit &Top Shirt - At Aunt Nancy's getting all the velcros sewed on and the blue stripes on the sleeves.

Body Armor - With Aunt Nancy doing the matching with the velcro. Some pieces have been sprayed.

Blasters - Putty and wiring stage.

Holsters - Need to make from scratch.

Boots - Pulling off the logos. Bits need to make from scratch. Can't order in time.

Belt - Seeker has promised to send it to me express mail next week. Hoping for the best.

As you can see, I got a TON of work to do. And we're trying to get me ready by STGCC next Friday. Biggest obstacle right now I see is the building parts from scratch stage. Need all the expert help I can get.

Spandex FULL Bodysuit is here!!!!!

OOH YEAH!!! My day just got better. Came home from a boring night class (taking a Diploma course while working is not fun), and found a little package with my name on it.

All black, stretchy, thin (very important for summer all year Singapore) fabric.

Initally when I wore it, it felt a little small. But after a little stretching and zipping up (not all the way to the head of course) IT LOOKED GREAT!!!!!!

And I tried it on both ways for the fit in case I needed to change up where the zip is in case my top shirt is unable to cover the zip when in the front.

Hood was in front cause I was trying to see if I'm able to zip up the back without help ... and the answer is no. Gotta bring this suit to a seamstress to get rid of the head piece.

Blasters from Woodchuck are here!!!!

Like a little kid who got a new toy. I was ooh-ing and ahh-ing at the great work done by Woodchuck on the blasters. He also did me the favour of leaving the hallow in the gun so that I can do my own LED wiring inside.

If he wasn't fantastic enough, he even provided a photo and instructions (detailed mind you) on what wiring, lights, voltage etc to use for the installtion. RAWR!!!

Body Suit

Found a lot of links online for body suits.
But I was one day late cause I ordered online those fitting tops and bottoms that's usually used for workouts.
I'll see how it looks like when it comes.

But I think I'll still be buying the full one piece body suit ... in fact it covers all the way up to the neck/head, right to the fingers and down to the toes.

Aches ...

After yesterday's cutting and dremmelling, I knew my arms and hands will be aching. The armor plastic was sooooo thick.

Right after finishing yesterday and I put my rings back on, they were all TIGHTER!!!

Last night right forearm was aching and had a little trouble finding a good position to sleep.

Was tempted to let it hang out on off the side of my bed but my youth reminded me of stories of monsters under the bed waiting for any parts of my body to be out of my bed-safety zone to drag me under to devour.

LOL XD

Today ... grip on my bike's handlebars there is a slight ache. As I type on my keyboard at work, the right forearm still has a little ache too.

Lessons learnt : Strength exercise for my arms or pay for it the next day.

Harness & Cutting & Dremmelling

OMG Alfred is a big help!

He passed me his spare harness which he didn't use.

Gotta wait for my flight suit and armor to be ready before testing out and aligning/fixing up the harness.

Tested out for the visor. Instead of the usual one from T-Visor, I used tinted plastic 2mm thick sheets. This picture is just me slotting it in to test it with flash. 2 sheets only needed. Next step is to either tape or glue it to the inside.

I started cutting the armor. With A LOT of help from Des, he lent me his cutter and his dremmel drill to cut and trim my armor. It's a lot tougher to cut than I thought.

And the dremmelling, I regretted wearing shorts. The scraps off the armor felt hot but luckily I got used to it after a while.

Ooh and I got my first cut on my left thumb. I have plenty of sores and scratches on my hands and legs too from handling the plastic but after it was all done ... it felt good.

Still have a LOT of dremmelling and trimming to do ... but oh well at least it's started.

Belt and Jetpack

A fellow forum goer from TDH said that the belt I got is for Jango and not Bo.

So will be ordering a full new set of belt, pouches and also the harness top from Seeker in TDH.

US$345.00 for the set (without jet pack) which I found a little pricey since the belt and pouches were initially only $175.00. Have to check.

Jetpack confirmation delayed

Okay guess I was in the wrong for asking if I can confirm an order without payment.

Hope my salary comes in sooner so that I can confirm the jetpack sooner too.

US$475 including shipment. Approx. S$593.

Just hope I didn't piss him off for asking if I can do that. It was unethical I now realized.

Visor Material Sourcing

Ooh I forgot to add ...

I went to Bras Basah last night to hunt for some suitable flexible plastic that can be used for the helmet's visor.

Top picture is with 3 sheets thick and bottom pic is with 4 sheets thick. Can still see me in the top pic. But friend said most prob we can use 2 sheets only as the sheets exposure will be small and no backlight as it will be in the helmet.

We should be cutting out the hole for the visor this weekend. *excited*

Ooh and I started watching Clone Wars : the series. Just found out there's a movie before that. Getting that too.

Time to update my Star Wars knowledge. Need to rewatch all 6 movies and I think I want to get one of those graphic books to keep in my favourite bookshelf. :)

Jet Pack confirmation

Okay time up.
No replies from the other guy. Oh well.

I'm going with cruzer whom friends have told me he does an excellent job. Getting from him the finished kit that is going to set me back US$425. Damn that's S$530! But it's going to be worth it.

Won't be able to make it for the LucasArts Building launch I expect. But it's okay. I can still have fun as a minder and I guess will be cooler in terms of lesser sweat, can breathe, can drink and eat, can talk. LOL.

This will give me more time to get the wig and lighted headband too. Then at least I have a choice to take the helmet off to breathe. Hee hee hee.

Picture below is the unpainted kit. I ordered the finished kit. Gelcoat fiberglass body cleaned up on the inside and predrilled for attachments and greeblies, cleaned up resin attachment parts with all hardware installed for complete pre-paint assembly. As per his description.

Waiting for his reply for my delayed payment though. Money ran dry this month due to unexpected expenses.

1. Bike repairs : Fuel line spoiled, bearing to be replaced, front tyre to replace.
2. Tooth implant op : 1st stage only to pull out the bad one (right incisor) and put in a screw (it really looks like one) into my gum to sit there for a few months to see how well my gums heal around it. So far it's good. I'll have my full frontal smile again in about 7-9 months.

Helmet, pouches, jetpack, flightsuit

Helmet :
Pass it to my friend Des to start on the visor first.
But I'm going to Art Friend today to see if I can get the black visor which he doesn't have the material for.
Thinking of doing the antenna to be movable but semi fixed. Weight of the eye piece would pose a little problem but they have advised boring it to make it lighter. Hmmmm ...

Pouches :
Asking Seeker for a quote but from his threads it looks to be US$175.00 without shipping. Will check with a local leather maker to see if it's cheaper to do it here in Singapore.

Would always prefer to source locally.

Jetpack :
Biggest headache now.
Have asked Cruzer if he could do it quicker for me. But it looks to be only ready for delivery by May. And that is if he doesn't get delayed.
Asked another guy for a quote but I doubt I'll get an answer soon.
Will go ahead with Cruzer if no reply by tomorrow.

Flightsuit/overshirt/gloves :
Going with lycra for the body suit. Have to check with Spotlight again to see if they have that available.
Overshirt looks to be a tight black tee which I've to sew on blue bands at the end of the shirt sleeve. Looks simple enough.
I've not checked how the gloves exactly look like, but plain black. Should be able to get from army market.

Now I'm actually aiming to finish these by May so that I can join up the 501st for the LucasArts building launch. I'd love to go as one of the BH but looks like it might not come true and I'll just go as a minder.

Keeping fingers crossed for things to go smoothly ... especially the jetpack. :)

Contacted cruzer from TheDentedHelmet to commission for a jetpack. Waiting for him to give me a little quote for a raw kit.
I prefer to get the kits raw so that I can handle, spray and do whatever is needed on my own ... then I could really feel that it is mine.

He also suggested to me to look up Kevin (KWDesigns) for other parts commission.
Will drop a PM later.

Collected the bucket helmet, belt and armour kit from James.
Feeling like a little kid who got a new toy.

Had to hide it from the family though. God knows what they might say. Nothing good I expect.

$500 for what he sold me. Yay. Real steal.
